The paper examines the Christian involvement in Nigeria's political landscape by exploring the biblical foundations, historical contributions, challenges, and opportunities for Christian politicians. It begins by establishing the theological basis for political engagement, highlighting scriptures that call Christians to be active in governance as agents of change. The paper traces the history of Christian political involvement in Nigeria, emphasizing the role of Christian leaders in the fight for independence and influence in modern governance. It further delves into the significant challenges faced by Christian politicians which includes corruption, tribalism, and religious extremism, while identifying opportunities for these leaders to advocate for social justice, ethical governance, and national unity. The paper showcases the positive impact of Christian politicians on Nigerian's governance through case studies of prominent figures such as General Yakubu Gowon, OlusegunObasanjo, and Peter Obi, illustrating their contributions to ethical leadership, social justice and interfaith relations.
